Manifesto

We believe there is great power to be found in honing your intuition and spiritual abilities. These practices help us heal from trauma, grow into our authentic selves, and treat the world and all its beings more compassionately. We aim to support all people in this ongoing journey.

The realm of possibility is vast. We embrace the curiosity and creativity in each being, and encourage them to create space in their lives for reflection, change, love and joy. We acknowledge the deep variety of personal and spiritual practices each person takes on, and therefore, we do not promote and our products do not adhere to one specific religion or tradition.

Above all, we aim to work sustainably by supporting our Earth and communities with tangible actions and intensive research to promise an effort at true sustainability, instead of broad green-washed statements. We are constantly growing, changing, and learning so we can treat our clients and communities with the respect and service they deserve.

We value transparency. We want you to know who is in charge, who makes our art, and where the money is going. Currently, our founder & artist is Nicole Marino, a queer witch & environmental activist. In the past, we have had design work done by Annie Estes and Genevieve Rand. Our logo was a collaboration with Alyssa Schlenker. We make sure that everything produced in the shop has been researched thoroughly, and we often reach out to other witches and spiritualists on advice and guidance in creating our tools.

While creating PositivelyMystic, Nicole earned a BA in Environmental Studies. For her senior thesis, she spent 4 months working on the project Sustainability for Small Business: Carbon Offsets and the Three Pillars of Sustainable Business. In this document, she broke down all the actions and purchases that take place within our business and assessed the sustainability accomplishments and challenges. During that research, it was decided we would do everything we could to make PositivelyMystic a sustainable business, acknowledging the massive challenges that small businesses face with that goal.

supports community

PositivelyMystic grew out of the support of a small makerspace in Ithaca, NY called the Ithaca Generator. A makerspace is a place full of tools and a community of folks that love to build, design, create, learn, and share. In return for years of using their community laser cutter, Nicole has taken on the role of Laser Cutter Area Captain, making sure anyone in the community who wants to learn how to use the laser cutter has access to it, and that it is always clean and functioning. She also teaches classes at the makerspace, and works had to encourage and support other artists and entrepreneurs in the community.
